Aug. 2017 – Erhvervsinvest acquires Randers Reb International

Erhvervsinvest acquires a majority stake in Randers Reb International, a leading and innovative manufacturer of rope.

Randers Reb has manufactured rope since 1840 and is today a modern company with an exhaustive understanding of all aspects of rope making. Since 2004, the company has been owned by John Staaling Eksport ApS and K. Laursen Holding A/S (50/50 pct. of the share capital).

“We are very pleased with Randers Reb’s journey in the recent years and the commercial focus that the management team has had, strongly supported by dedicated employees in both Denmark and Lithuania. I am glad that I together with the management team have been able to develop Randers Reb to its current level. Randers Reb is a good company and we are happy to pass it on to Erhvervsinvest who we consider as an ideal future owner that can continue the growth going forward,” says former Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jan List Christensen.

The products are sold to attractive niches including: fishing, playground and furniture, all over the world in more than 70 countries in Europe, North and South America and Asia-Pacific.

The company is headquartered in Randers, where 11 of the approx. 100 employees work and in Alytus in Lithuania where all production takes place and where the remaining employees are located.

The production was moved from Randers to Alytus in Lithuania in 2002. The manufacturing set-up in Lithuania is a significant contributor to the high margins together with the niche nature of the end-markets in the recent years.

“We are impressed by the development of Randers Reb. The company is a good example of a Danish company which succeeded with a production set-up in Eastern-Europe without complicating the flow from factory to end-user. Randers Reb is an attractive company with an international profile and strong financial performance in the recent years. We see a potential for further growth in the years to come and we look forward to develop the company further together with the management,” says Managing Partner at Erhvervsinvest, Thomas Marstrand.

Randers Reb has experienced high growth in revenue and earnings since 2013, primarily driven by the Fishing and Playground segments.

“We are pleased to sell Randers Reb to Erhvervsinvest, which I consider as an ideal partner to support the company on its further journey,” says former board member Mogens Freundlich Andersen.
